Your Thoughts on the 2010 D6 Conference?

Author: DavidJones  //  Category: Family, The Church

It’s hard to believe, but the 2010 D6 Conference has already come and gone. Last week over 1900 people gathered in Dallas, Texas to learn and discuss how to build faith at home.

If you were one of those 1900+ people, I would love to hear your thoughts on the conference, both good and bad. What did you take away from the conference? What speakers really moved you and encouraged you in both your ministry and personal life? What things do you wish were different? Are there any speakers/experts on family ministry that you wish would have been there that weren’t?

Leave any comments you have. I’m looking forward to hearing what you have to say.

You have responsibilities.

You are a leader.

You have influence.

Whether we like it or not, the three statements above are true about every one of us. We all have some types of responsibilities in life. Carrying responsibility automatically thrusts us in to leadership, no matter how big or small. What is leadership? Influence.

September 23-25, a new and revolutionary conference will be taking place in Dallas, TX. The D6 Conference (short for Deuteronomy 6) will be taking its first flight, looking to equip parents, pastors, youth ministers, children’s ministers, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, etc with the biblical principles needed to uphold truth and necessary leadership both in the home and the world.

Speakers such as Jim Daly, Angela Thomas, and George Barna will be there to guide you with their own personal insight. Mark Matlock, Darren Whitehead, and Jay Strother will be there to show you how YOU can make an impact on today’s generation. Other speakers include Fred Stoeker, author of Every Man’s Battle, Dr. John Trent, Dave Ramsey, and comedian Tim Hawkins.

This conference has the potential to change everything you know about leading your family and doing ministry. But there’s a catch: You have to be there!

IF you register by February 2, you will receive an incredible early-bird savings on the conference. Simply go to the D6 Conference website, www.d6conference.com, to register and find out more information about this incredible conference.

Yes, the economy might be rough right now, but you can’t put a price tag on what you will learn at this conference. It’s not just for husbands and wives; it’s not just for parents with children; and it’s not just for those who already have it all figured out.

This conference is for anyone who is interested in learning how to take a strong Christian lead in his or her home and world.

Please check it out. You don’t want to miss it!

D6 Conference Location Revealed!!!

Author: DavidJones  //  Category: The Church

So lately, the only question bigger than “Will Michael Phelps win 8 gold medals?” has been “Where will the D6 Conference be held?”

Well ladies and gentlemen, it is time to release the location of the D6 Conference.

Actually, let’s have a little fun with some hints…

- A winner of “Dancing with the Stars” is known for playing football in this city

- A former New York Mets manager has the same first name as this city.

- A TV show that premiered September 23, 1978 was named after this city.

- Google Dirk Nowitzski (no it’s not in Germany)

- 1998-1998 Stanley Cup Champions

Here’s one more subtle hint…

The D6 Conference from Randall House will be held in Dallas, Texas on September 23-25, 2009 at the Frisco Convention Center!

You do NOT want to miss this! If you register by October 1, you’ll receive a ridiculously low discounted rate! How low? Like 1/10 of what it cost to fix my car low!

This will be the biggest thing to hit Dallas since Emmitt Smith (the answer to the first clue). This will be a bigger story than Mark Cuban, Jerry Jones, or even who Tony Romo is dating (not that you should care about that anyway.)

So who’s gonna be there?

  • George Barna- author and founded of the Barna Research Group
  • Jim Daly- President of Focus on the Family
  • Fred Stoeker- author of Every Man’s Battle
  • Dr. John Trent- author and founding president of StrongFamilies.com
  • Darren Whitehead- Direction of Next Gen Ministries at Willow Creek Community Church
  • Dave Ramsey- (via video)- everyone’s financial expert

So I know you gotta be interested, so here’s what I want you to do…

I want you to check out the D6 Conference page. Click on the link and just check it out and see what it’s about. While you’re there, navigate around the D6 site.

Hope to see you there!

Mindset List for the Class of 2012

Author: DavidJones  //  Category: Books, Movies, Music, Random, Youth Culture

Before I start, let me encourage you to stop by here tomorrow, August 21, at 11:00 AM CT for a HUGE announcement concerning RH’s D6 Conference. Anyway…

Each year, Beloit College releases a “Mindset List for the Class of…” The list humorously and factually depicts the culture a graduating class has grown up in. This year, Beloit released the “Mindset List for the Class of 2012″ since new college freshman will (hopefully) be graduating in 2012. You can find the list on Beloit’s web site by clicking here and I’m sure this will eventually be spread 2 billion times as a MySpace bulletin, but I have included it in my blog for your viewing pleasure:

The class of 2012 has grown up in an era where computers and rapid communication are the norm, and colleges no longer trumpet the fact that residence halls are “wired” and equipped with the latest hardware. These students will hardly recognize the availability of telephones in their rooms since they have seldom utilized landlines during their adolescence. They will continue to live on their cell phones and communicate via texting. Roommates, few of whom have ever shared a bedroom, have already checked out each other on Facebook where they have shared their most personal thoughts with the whole world.

It is a multicultural, politically correct and “green” generation that has hardly noticed the threats to their privacy and has never feared the Russians and the Warsaw Pact.

Students entering college for the first time this fall were generally born in 1990.

For these students, Sammy Davis Jr., Jim Henson, Ryan White, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Freddy Krueger have always been dead.

  1. Harry Potter could be a classmate, playing on their Quidditch team.
  2. Since they were in diapers, karaoke machines have been annoying people at parties.
  3. They have always been looking for Carmen Sandiego. Read more…
