Joe the Plumber, ACORN, and Other Presidential Lessons
Author: DavidJones // Category: Ethics, Politics, Pop CultureEvery 4 years when we have a presidential election, we’re often left with words, phrases, and people who become immortalized in pop culture…at least for a few minutes. Here are just a few of the things we have learned from the 2008 presidential race:
- “Joe the Plumber” is no longer just a bad character for a professional wrestler; he’s now an American icon!
- A “Maverick” is more than a basketball team in Dallas.
- John McCain has a lot of “friends.”
- Barack Obama is closing in on the Guiness record for “uh”s.
- The media has more left turns than a NASCAR race.
- The best way to answer a question is to answer a different question no one asked.
- Outside of primaries, no one cares about immigration.
- An ACORN is more than a nut (well maybe not).
- Mickey Mouse is registered to vote in Orlando, FL.
- It’s sad you can’t trust your bullpen with a 7 run lead (Wait. What?)
- The World Series bows to Barack Obama
- Regardless if he got botox, Joe Biden has some incredible hair plugs!
- Ratings prove even when people hate Sarah Palin, they love to hate her.
- MSNBC is competing with The National Enquirer for being the least accurate news source.
- Keith Olbermann should have stuck to Sportscenter.
- John McCain can be like a wandering grandpa. Turn your head for a second and he’s halfway down the street.
- Hair is not a requirement to be president.
- There is good reason why Jay Leno continues to beat David Letterman in the ratings.
- Saturday Night Live has to feed off political coverage because they haven’t had a decent cast since 1995.
