Rumbling, Grumbling, and Mumbling

Well, my goal was to post every Tuesday and Friday. For the 3 people who visit this site, you probably noticed that I didn’t post on Friday. I left work a little early so I didn’t get around to it. Rather than break tradition and my routine (cause we all know that’s unethical), I figured I’d halt the writing until today (Tuesday). I don’t have anything profound or interesting to write, but I thought I would just share some of the crazy ideas floating around in my head:

“I Can Hear the Bells…”
To start off, I want to congratulate Jacob and Lynsey Riggs on their marriage. They were married this past Saturday in Nashville, Tennessee. If you know them at all, you know they are two of the greatest people in the world.

“Deja Vu All Over Again”
If we’ve even talked for 2 minutes, you know I am a huge sports fan. More specifically, I am a huge baseball (St. Louis Cardinals) fan. Over the past few weeks there has been a major debate concerning instant replay in Major League Baseball. Every night I turn on Sportscenter, it seems like there is another questionable call on a home run. Sometimes the umpires get it right, sometimes they don’t. In the past 2 weeks, we’ve seen umpires call foul balls home runs, home runs foul balls, doubles home runs, and home runs doubles. (Confused? Good!) I am not a proponent of using instant replay on every close call (Although that would have changed the 1985 World Series…Don Denkinger!!!) But I do think replay should be used for questionable calls on home runs. Some have argued it will slow down the game. Really? I kinda think watching the umpires have a tea party/conference in the center of the diamond and watching an angry manager argue and kick dirty for 10 minutes slows the game down. It would even be faster than the NFL. There are plenty of reasons why baseball should institute replay…but the most important thing is: It makes sure you get the call right!

The Good ‘Ole Days
I watched a movie last night from 1996. There was a scene with a shot of a gas station. The price for gas: $1.13/gallon. Like everyone else in the country (except the 4 guys reaping all the benefits) I am getting tired of seeing the price of gas rise every 3 seconds. I do have a theory, however, for lowering gas prices. We need to replace all of the oil company execs with electronics execs. Why? Well think about this: When DVD players first hit the market, they were $300-500. Crazy, huh? For those of you who are MUCH older than me, you may remember when VCRs were introduced. My grandpa received one of the first models of VCRs when he retired. The original sale price was about $1400 and it was the size of a small car. Well look at those same prices now. You can walk into any Wal-Mart and find a VCR or DVD player for $20-30. Seems like those electronics execs were more concerned our pocket than theirs. Maybe they should be put in charge of the oil industry. Maybe my idea isn’t foolproof, but if Sony and Sanyo started to selling gas, we could see it at $0.35/gallon in 3 years. Or we could what happens if we shut down NASCAR and take all of their gas! (Oh wow…I just offended a lot of people! I’m kidding!)

Out of Touch!
American Idol used Seal, Donna Summers, George Michael, Bryan Adams, and ZZ Top on their finale. Are the producers that out of touch with youth culture or did someone have some major debts to pay?

“I Hate Snakes!”
I saw the new Indiana Jones movie last week. I thought it was good, but not great. My dad had me watching the trilogy when I was younger so I became a big fan of the series. The new movie has the cheesiness of the first three movies, but still contains some good action scenes. Once again, it was good, not great. I will admit that I haven’t been able to get the theme out of my head for over a week!

Well, I guess that’s it until Friday. I want to leave you with something that is funny, precious, and amazing! Check out the video below:

Yay for being a Cardinals fan! :) I would have to agree with you on the American Idol thing. I had no clue who any of those people were.

Funny story: I don’t know if my mom has been to the movies since I was born… I’m guessing it’s been atleast 25 years since she has. Well she went with my dad the other night to see Indiana Jones. Isn’t that funny? She liked it. She said she didn’t like that boy’s mouth and she’s not a huge fan of violence. Hehe.. she makes me laugh. But anyway, forgot to tell you that earlier.
Good post! You’re doing a great job! ;)
    GO CARDS.

They wouldn’t need instant replay if all the stadiums had clearly visable lines on the top of the fence and wouldn’t have the first row of seats so close to the field.
